One might say it's amazing we are still here.

First up, apologies for the long absence. As with all things like this, there is no "real" excuse but I have been busy with other goings on. I bought a house. I moved. I am fixing said house. All. The. Time. So... sorry? In any case, I'm back, the site is still here, and I am resuming some semblance of updates.

I've added a few setups to the Cockpits page from members in the community. If you would like to have yours included, just send me a brief text description and 2 or 3 representative images and at some point before the decade ends I'll get them up. I've added a few entries in the Serial Number archive as well.
LOC Sunday continues to be my main outlet for mech destruction. Apparently there is a contingent that plays evenings during the week, but I haven't been able to partake. Sundays have varied from lean to crowded depending on the weekend. Somehow the game continues to draw new players (woot) and a core group of veterans is still going strong. Continued use of the Random VT Generator has supplied some unique matches over the weeks, so that makes it probably the best thing I've built for the SB community outside of this website.

Nemesis was bugging me today about 1. doing site updates and 2. getting some sort of battle blogger going. His argument might carry more weight if he would get off his ass and play the game he's suggesting I do work on a website for. Figures! In any case, as a general rule, I hate the whole concept of bloggers, but some mission accounts might make for entertaining reading. I would need to get off my butt and install some sort of blogger on the webserver first. It might be helpful to hear a "we want that!" from the community for inspiration.

Nemesis: I just lost the girlfriend, so I have a little more time now . . . :)

Also on the horizon is my long awaited and much maligned essay: "Steel Battalion: Line of Contact - Your Future Has Been Withdrawn Due to Connection Error" (ok, not the real title). In it, I plan on recapping the overall history of the game, including the mortally flawed Campaign mode, the community shift (and drift) to Free Mode, and a general rundown of the multiple faceplants Capcom managed in their handling of the game. Unlikely to come to a bookstore near you, but definitely to this website.
